DAVID FAIRBAiRN WORKSHOP
Saturday November 28 and Sunday November 29 from 9.30am to 4.00pm
This will be a creative and experimental mixed media drawing workshop culminating in one major drawing of the clothed figure to be completed on day two of the workshop program. Students will be working from a mature female model on day one who will be dressed in a variety of clothing combinations which will allow for a diversity of character types. Different environments will be created for the model to inhabit as well as exploring various lighting. This will result in many result in many research drawings which will act as the point of reference and departure for day two.
As the model will be situated within several different scenarios this will result in a pictorially interesting and engaging series of drawings. Ways to build and layer a drawing using a variety of mixed media will be investigated as well as developing a good sense of special dynamics leading to an expressive and lively finished work.
David Fairbairn has exhibited extensively throughout Australia since 1901. He has been awarded many prizes including the Dobell Drawing Prize in 1999, The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 2002 and the Mosman Art Prize in 2012.
David has been teaching at the National Art School in the Drawing Department as a Visiting Lecturer for over 20 years.
David is represented by Stella Downer Fine Art, Sydney.
The cost is $225 for both days which is very cheap compared to Melbourne or Sydney prices.
