CHRISTINE WILSON
- Portrait Painting Tuesday 9 AM TO 12 PM
ARTIST STATEMENT
My background is as an illustrator, and spans over 30 years.
As an illustrator, my job was to put into a visual form the ideas of other people designed for a specific purpose. I loved my work and count myself fortunate to have had the experience.
In the last 15 years or so, I have been able to return to painting, and have been able to choose for myself the subject matter and style(s) I wish to pursue.
I have also taught illustration at the University of Western Sydney, (7 years), and painting at Camp Creative, Bellingen, (5 years). This experience has helped me in many ways, including helping to crystallise which direction I wish to travel as a painter.
I enjoy abstract and exploring the genre, I also love portraiture, the human figure and landscape. I am moved by water and the desert. I love to play around with different styles.
I have also been involved with a pop-up gallery in my local area which has been a huge success, and which has given me even more wonderful contacts in the very vibrant local art scene.
My most recent works are experimental using charcoal, pastel and gouache on paper.
