Lisa Magri completed a Bachelor of Education in Art in 1986, majoring in ceramics at the City Art Institute in Paddington now known as COFA, College of Fine Arts.  Her interest in ceramics took her to Melbourne the following year to undertake a Bachelor of Art in Ceramic Design at Chisholm Institute of Technology in Caulfield, which is now part of Monash University.  Lisa specialises in hand building methods, learned from well-known Australian ceramic innovators in hand built sculptural ceramics: Peter Travis, Marea Gazzard, Patsy Hely, Josef Szirer and Pam Irving.  A resident of Boambee East since 1994, Lisa also learned from Phil Greed and John Mawhinney at North Coast TAFE where she later taught ceramics and sculpture and has worked as a casual art teacher in secondary schools from Woolgoolga to Dorrigo. She coordinated art exhibitions for Coffs Harbour City Council at Bunker Cartoon Gallery from 2010 to 2015. Lisa exhibited her work at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery, Nexus in Bellingen and Sawtell Art Gallery in 2016.  A committee member of Coastal Claymakers Inc from 2004-2016, Lisa has designed and participated in two  collaborative public art projects, “Inclusion” at the Coffs Harbour Regional Botanic Garden and the mandala in the Sacred Garden at the CHEC.
