clay maize with lisa magri
weekend 23 & 24 january
Discover the traditional motif of maize (corn) and its significance throughout history, as recorded in the ceramics of the Americas. Re-emerging as a vital “gluten free” staple in the climate-challenged 21st century, it is time to design new wares which both honour and celebrate this “a-maize-ing” food. At the 2-day workshop you will make corn boats, taco plates, relief tiles, salt and pepper shakers and figurines which explore the motif and magic. We will also bake cornbread, pop some corn, steam tamales and enjoy juicy corn on the cob. The cost for the two days is $170.00.
Places are limited to 10 for the two-day workshops but only 8 in Helen's workshops, so book early to avoid disappointment. Morning tea will be provided but please bring your own lunch.
